About the course

Any business conducting guarding activity to secure a building or site may need trained security staff qualified as security officers who hold a SIA licence. A level 2 award for security officers in the private security industry qualification is required by law for an individual to apply for a SIA-licence to work as a security guard.

This qualification is designed for learners who currently hold a licence from the Security Industry Authority (SIA) to work as a security officer and need to be brought up to date with the new licence-linked requirements.

Topics include:

  • terror threats and the role of the security operative in the event of a threat
  • minimising risk to personal safety
  • action to take in relation to global (or critical) incidents
  • how to conduct effective search procedures
  • factors that can make someone vulnerable
  • undertsnading a security operatives’ duty of care with regard to vulnerable people
